Aeropress
IDEAL FOR: Versatile brewing
GRIND SIZE: Comparable to coarse ground pepper (setting 6 on an EK43 grinder).
COFFEE TO WATER RATIO: 55-60g/litre
PROCESS: (CLASSIC METHOD)
- Prepare your Aeropress by assembling it with a fresh filter, and pour hot water through to remove any paper taste and to warm up the brewer.
- Place 15g of finely ground coffee into the Aeropress, then position it filter-side down onto your cup.
- Add 250g of water heated to 90°C, stirring to thoroughly saturate the coffee grounds.
- Insert the rubber end of the plunger loosely into the Aeropress to prevent the coffee from dripping into the cup too soon.
- Let it sit for 1 minute, then remove the plunger and give it a quick stir.
- Reinsert the plunger and press gently, aiming for a pressing time of about 45 seconds.
SUGGESTION: This technique yields coffee with a drip filter strength, but the Aeropress is perfect for experimenting with various recipes, making brewing both accessible and enjoyable.
